Dessi Bell, first woman in Zaggora Hotpants

I remember when Dessi first griped to me about the little wrinkles on her legs and trying to lose weight before her wedding in 2008. She was desperate and never had the time to get a proper workout. I mean, who does, with kids, job, housework (we don’t all have time for a 3 hour personal trainer session and lunch like Gwyneth Paltrow).

After trying gym, yoga (somedays both), creams, ointments and other magic potions she was about to give up. She didn’t just gripe to me, but everyone (& especially) her mum.

‘Why don’t you just do what everyone did in my day, wrap yourself up in cling film!’. Whilst Dessi didn’t much like the idea of looking like a sandwich ball, she gave it a go. Much to her surprise and delight, it actually had quite an effect after a couple of days of making her skin smoother. In fact, the method was effective that in Full Monty Style, Dessi’s husband Malcolm also wrapped himself up like a lunch snack, with similar effect. He too, lost a few much needed pounds (along with his dignity).

Downside >>> It was noisy, uncomfortable and kind of soggy and nasty and when she took it off

Dessi got married, felt better about herself and went off on honeymoon. But, the thought started to linger, ‘if only I could find something to wear that was comfortable and more effective for my body’. Sitting on the beach, she started researching (mainly on google).

Many months later, after researching fabrics, materials, heating properties and researching how the body works, Dessi found some material makers in Taiwan (the land of high technology) that reckoned they could make what she was after. The material would have to be comfortable, with a special lining that used natural body heat to work on the areas she cared about (backs of her legs) with aim of ‘sweating out the wrinkles’ as she called it.

Some months later (January 2011) the first beta pair arrived. Delighted, Dessi popped them on and sent photos to all of us girls.

Excited, she then made another 20 pairs and asked other women to try them for 2 weeks. Amazingly, 19 out of the 20 also reported that they had lost 4,5,6 lbs in weight, 3,4,5 inches from thighs and hips.

It's a good job we changed the name of Zaggora Hotpants from Celulite, oh my!
